Lightroom Classic vs Lightroom CC

What is the difference between Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic?

The two versions of Adobe Lightroom are so similar that it can be hard to know which one is the best. They both have a range of useful develop controls, like tonal sliders and selective adjustments for developing your photos. There’s also HSL controls, split tone editing, spot removal tool and more! All in all they seem pretty equal but there are some fundamental differences between the two programs worth considering before you make up your mind on what version will suit you best:

Layout

The biggest difference between Lightroom CC and classic is it’s interface.

Lightroom CC has a more clean, refreshed UI with big icons and text that’s easy to navigate, especially when using on mobile or tablets.Lightroom Classic has a more cluttered, old-fashioned UI that can be hard to navigate when you’re new to. it.I personally find Classic easier to use and it guides you editing workflow.

Structure – Cloud vs Local Storage

Lightroom Classic is a program that you download on your computer and then use to edit your pictures, however you can choose to sync collections but you’ll need to manual sync them yourself.Lightroom CC is a cloud based editor, making it very versatile so that you can edit your photos from anywhere. The downside of this is that it does not work when there’s no internet connection available (you can’t offline-edit)

Integration with mobile

Lightroom CC works seemlessly with Lightroom mobile, whereas Lightroom Classic doesn’t sync with mobile.

Albums or Collections?

Lightroom Classic uses collections. Collections are a way of grouping photos into categories such as weddings or family.Lightroom CC uses albums, these are simply the same thing as collections but with different names.

Classic Extras – HDRs and panoramas

Adobe Lightroom Classic has many features and capabilities, however CC didn’t inherit all of them. Lightroom Classic has extra modules and the ability to create HDR’s and panoramas.

Face recognition

Lightroom CC’s face recognition feature is a really great one. It’s not always accurate but when it does work, it works well!

Classic vs CC: verdict

Is Adobe Lightroom CC better than Lightroom Classic? Well, that really depends on what you’re looking for from an editor. Many professionals prefer the features and layout of Lightroom Classic, while mobile and apple users prefer the Lightroom CC app.
