How to Create a Brand Kit in Canva
One of the brilliant time-saving features inside Canva Pro is the ability to create a brand kit. This is the place you store important branding elements and means they are always easy to get at when making designs.
But how do you create a brand kit in Canva to start with? Let’s walk through the process.
What goes into a brand kit?
A full brand kit is a big part of your visual marketing arsenal but for this article, we are referring to three main elements that you can add to Canva:
- Your brand colours
- Up to three primary fonts you use
- Your logos
Brand kits are used to help you easily create graphics that feature the same branding elements like your website and social media profiles. It also helps you to sometimes go off-brand and creating something a little different while still having those branding elements at hand.
How to create your brand kit in Canva
Creating your brand kit is one of the useful features inside Canva and allows you to easily store those important elements. It is also really easy to set up.
Step 1 – Go to the Brand Kit option on the menu
When you have a Canva Pro account, you will see an option on the main menu that’s called ‘Brand Kit’ and this is where you go to set up the basics of your branding information.

Step 2 – Add your brand colours
Next, you’ll want to add your main brand colours. There’s a button that says ‘Add and discover palettes’ and this is how you can either add the colours you’ve already chosen or get some inspiration.
When you select it, some ideas for colour palettes will show as well as the option to add a custom palette. Here you would use the Hex codes for each colour to add it to the palette. This will then show on your list of palettes in the brand kit.

You can also have more than one palette so if you have different brands or even specific colours for a project, you can store multiple palettes.

Step 3 – Add your logo
At the top of the brand kit, there’s a spot to add your logo. Again you can add a couple of versions, ideally one would be in colour and another may be a white version you could use on a coloured background.
Step 4 – Upload or choose your fonts
The final step is to upload or choose your fonts. With Canva Pro, you can upload a number of fonts as long as you have the correct license to use them this way. So if you have paid fonts you use for your brand, upload them here.
Or if you use fonts that are already on Canva, you can just select them. There are three spaces for fonts – headings, subheadings and body. You can add the font and the size by selecting the pen icons.

You can also change them at any point if you decide you want to use different brand fonts. It just means when you create a heading, subheading or body text in Canva, it will default to these fonts.
Using the brand kit in designs
Once you have created your brand kit, it is instantly useful when you are creating different designs.
When you open the colour options inside a design, the first thing you will see will be the palettes you have uploaded. This makes it quick and easy to choose one of those colours. You can still pick from photo colours or add a Hex code as normal.

Also, when you are going to the text option, then the brand fonts you’ve chosen will be the ones that appear at the top of the list to use first. Again, you can choose different text options or simply change the font as normal.

To add your logo to something, go to the Folders option then select ‘Shared with you’ from the top bar. Here there’s a section for logos where you can access the ones you have uploaded and use them in a design.

The brand kit in Styles
The other place where your brand kit shows are in the Styles option on the main menu. This is a great place to get ideas for colours and fonts but also shows your own selections there. That way you can compare them and get more ideas.

The ability to add a brand kit to Canva is a useful tool to help you quickly and easily create on-brand graphics. Plus it is easy to change if your branding changes or to add more colour palettes for projects.
