What to wear for school pictures

We all have a natural desire to both be our real selves and fit it, especially at school. We want to be accepted for who we are. Picking the real outfit can both help you feel good and express yourself. So be a real as you can, even if you wear a uniform (but check your school guidelines).

What is the best color to wear for home school pictures?

Still not sure what to wear for your first day back to school then stick with solid plain colours. Keep to the classics and you’ll look great.

How to look good in the school uniform?

  • Firstly, check your school guidelines, but there’s always ways for you to accessorise. Hats, scarves, jewellery, belts, sweaters, or backpacks.
  • Roll up your sleeves.
  • Switch up your shoes or socks
  • Change up your school hairstyle.
  • Make sure they fit you correctly.

School Picture Lighting

The biggest reason why school portraits are so bad is that they are taken in bad lighting like UV lighting. The best light is natural lighting, which is easy to source for both indoor (set up in front of the window) or outdoor in open shade.

Camera Settings

Try not to stress too much about this. My suggestion is to keep things simple. If you’re new to your DSLR then use aperture priority and use a lower aperture to blur out the background and make your kid pop as the primary subject.  If you’re feeling a little braver and want to use manual mode. Then as above set you aperture lower, something between f2.8-4 and your shutter speed to above 1/200 to ensure no motion blur, which leaves your ISO to correct your exposure.

Printing Home School Pictures

The most overlooked stage, so many school pictures get left on phones and hard drives. Printing is really fast, easy and reasonably priced.
